Default Effective W/Mo Ettin Farming Build

This is the Ettin farming build I have been running for a long time with extreme success. As you might know, ettin drop runes, but also a decent amount of purple/gold weapons. There is usually a chest or 2 on the way to the ettins as well, so bring keys!

W/Mo

Armor:
Knights Helm
Knights Armor

Weapon:
Any sword with firey mod (ettin take extra damage with fire).
More damage mods = better.
for example: 15>50 or 15 while enchanted are great as well as customized swords

Ideal Sword:
Fiery Sword of Fortitude or Giantslaying (see note)
Fire damage: 15 - 22 (Req 9)
+15% damage (while enchanted)
customized (+20% damage)
+30 Health / +20% damage against giants (see note)

NOTE: Giantslaying has not been proven to work on ettin as of yet, but I'm working on it.

Offhand:
Shield with req 9 or lower tactics or strength, preferably with +health while enchanted.

Ideal Shield:
Defense 16 (req 9 tactics/strength)
+45 Health (while enchanted)
-2 Received Damage (while enchanted)

Runes:
Sup Swordsmanship
Minor Tactics
Minor Strength
Major/Sup Vigor
Major/Sup Absorption

Skills:
Sever Artery (bleeding = good)
Disrupting Blow (disrupts Healing Signet)
Savage Slash (disrupts Healing Signet)
Dolyak Signet (keeps you from getting knocked down_
Bonetti's Defense (energy management)
Sprint/Charge[elite] (running past critters)
Live Vicariously (keeps you alive)
Mending (keeps you alive)

Attributes:
Healing Prayers: 8
Swordsmanship: Minimum for sword
Tactics + Strength: Minimum for shield OR distributed evenly

Combat (taking on 3 - 6 ettin at 1 time):
Preparation: Have Mending on/cast Mending and then cast Live Vicariously when energy reaches 20, leaving you with 15 energy.
Step 1: Aggro ettin
***Focus on 1 ettin at a time***
Step 2: Attack normaly then Sever Artery when possible
Step 3: Keep attacking normaly until ettin begins to use Healing Signet
Step 4: Disrupt using either Savage Slash (recommended) or Disrupting Blow
Step 5: Ettin will most likely cast Endure Pain
Step 6: Keep attacking normaly until ettin begins to use Healing Signet again
***Sometimes ettin will get a third chan[B]ce to use Healing Signet, but with 2 disrupting skills, you should always have one available***
Step 7: Disrupt signet with other interupt skill
Step 8: Cast Dolyak Signet
Step 9: Cast Bonetti's Defense to get at least 15 energy
Step 10: Endure pain runs out
***First ettin dies***
Step 11: Repeat steps 2 through 10 until all ettin are dead

The Run:
Step 1: Start in Lions Arch (LA), cast mending when outside
Step 2: Sprint past imp and through the giant crowd of tengu and head up towards giants basin
Step 3: Kill ettin in giants basin
Step 4: Run through the ascalon settlement and rezone at nebo terrace
Step 5: Run back through the ascalon settlement, kill ettin and run east and rezone at scoundrels rise
Step 6: Run back toward ascalon settlement killing ettin along the way
Step 7: Repeat steps 3 - 6 until inventory is full of runes
Step 8: Pop back into LA and sell/store runes
Step 9: Go to step 1

Don't worry if you do not get the timing right the first time, it doesn't take long to figure out. PM me with any questions.

Ok real nice guide , good good for new guys at this , but i think it may be a bit slow

my setup

8 healing
16 sword (+3+1)
13 tactics (+3)

sword 15-22
zealous
15% while encahnted
+5 armor
20% dmg

-2-2 sheild (stance ,enchanted)

flurry/savage slash
server artery
gash
galrath slash
final thrust
Victory is mine!
mending
sprint

u dont realy need savage slash cause its fast enough as it is , u do the conditions and vim when u want , then u do the galrath slash on healing sigit and the final thrust , on the next healing sigit when the health is below 50% , it can take down a ettin in a row of these skills instantly if your lucky , its realy fast

Most people think that high damage is the most important part, but this isnt true, the most important part is to keep dealing damage, when they get down to about 25% health, they health drops to 1 since endure pain runs out. Most people think they have A LOT of health, but that is because of endure pain, its way more efficient to focus on disrupting healing signet and wait for endure pain to run out instead of trying to muscle thru it.

I disagree i find it easy enough to 'muscle through' their healing as you put it and it requires less concentration looking for when they hit healing sig, meaning i can watch tv at the same time

they dont actually heal that effectively

Ha, ettin drops have been nerfed like CRAZY! I remember when they weren't nerfed, and you could easily get 2-3 golds per run. Now i'm lucky to get 1 every 2-3 runs. Pfff, waste of time now.

got 4 gold drops in one run today, the spoils are still out there to be had, still the most efficient farming method i think.

I averaged 1 gold,2 blues and 1 purple each run for my first ever 3 runs, then about 20 runs later just managed to get 2 blues and 1 purple in total

I like the Axe over the Sword for ettin farming.

I like using:

Disrupting chop (makes heal sig recharge slower)
Cyclone Axe (to build Adrenaline)
Cleave (E) (cause it recharges really quickly)
Dismember (cause I'm using cleave)
Executioner's Strike (Death blow)
Heal Breeze/Heal Sig (in case you get a group to large)
Sprint (to sprint)
Mending (oh come on its not that bad!)

On rare occasions I can kill an ettin in one swipe through the skills (before they use Endure Pain)
